Shamsah Dhala is the Global Sector Lead for Tourism and Retail at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. In her role, she is responsible for developing IFC’s strategy in Tourism and Retail; maintaining relationship with global players in the tourism and retail sector; advancing IFC’s investments in these sectors by leading and executing global deals and advising investment staff on regional projects; and spearheading knowledge management. During her 17 years at the IFC, Shamsah has led debt and equity investments in over 25 countries across regions such Latin America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe in a range of sectors including Tourism, Retail, Property, Telecom and Media, Renewable Energy, Automotive and Construction Materials. Prior to IFC, Shamsah worked as a Manager at the Export Import Bank of India, a Development Financial Institution to promote International Trade in India. Shamsah holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Yale University and is Chartered Accountant under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. She also has a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Madras, India.
