Since June 2018, Fahad Alshathri serves as Deputy Governor for Supervision at the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) where his main responsibilities include ensuring a sound and efficient financial system through effective regulation of the banking industry, the insurance industry, and finance companies. Before taking the current role, Alshathri was the Deputy Governor of Research and International Affairs at SAMA where his main duties include researches and studies related to the national economy, monetary policy and financial stability, development of the financial sector, and international affairs. Besides the current responsibilities, Alshathri is the Chairman of the Board of the Kafalah Program (and SME guarantee scheme). He is a current member of the Board of Directors of Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) and of Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD). He was a member of the Board of Directors of Social Development Bank (SDB) and General Investment Authority (SAGIA). Before joining SAMA in 2016, Fahad Alshathri served as an Executive Director and member of Executive Board at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He served as well as Economic Advisor at the Ministry of Finance (MOF). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA.
