Loïc Amado is the General Manager for Uber in East Africa. In this role, Loïc focuses on Uber's growth and expansion throughout the East African region.
Loïc joined Uber in May 2014 as a regional launcher for EMEA. He has launched Uber in markets such as Germany, Greece, Morocco, Egypt, Croatia, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana and Pakistan. His passion for development and the East African region brought him to Nairobi- Africa’s Silicon Savannah where he joined in Dec 2016 as Uber’s General Manager in East Africa. With a heart for Africa, Loïc is enthusiastic about the burgeoning technology industry on the continent and is excited about being a part of its growth.
Prior to joining Uber, Loïc worked at a venture capital firm Nova Founders after founding his own travel start-up and completing his military service in the Swiss Army. Loïc attained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Applied Economic Sciences & Finance from the University of Antwerp in Belgium. He also has a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Finance from the City University of Hong Kong.
Loïc holds both Belgian and Swiss nationality and speaks fluent German, Dutch, French, English and a bit of Spanish.
