Marisela Alvarenga is Chief of the Financial Intermediaries Division at IDB Invest, which she joined in 2008. She is responsible for the business strategy and coverage of financial intermediaries (FIs) and investment funds. She heads a multidisciplinary team that provides innovative solutions to clients through value proposals of financial and non-financial solutions to contribute to sustainable development in the region through the private sector.
Before joining the IDB Group, Marisela was the Regional Director of Financial Planning for Citibank’s institutional and corporate segment in El Salvador. Prior to that, she was Corporate Finance Manager and Head of Financial Planning at Banco Cuscatlán. She has extensive experience in the banking, financial planning, corporate finance, and capital markets sectors.
Marisela earned a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a major in Banking and Finance, through the exchange program with the Otto Beisheim (WHU) Business School (Germany) and is certified in Sustainable Finance by the University of Cambridge, UK. She also has a professional degree in administration and business from Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios – ESEN (El Salvador).
