Simon Schwall is an entrepreneur and microinsurance expert. Simon acquired a first experience in the field by working as a consultant (in particular for the GSMA), then as country director for 4 years at BIMA, which quickly became a leading microinsurance company in emerging markets thanks to their unique solution based on mobile phone-based distribution, with 31 million people insured. Simon then set up OKO, which offers parametric crop insurance to smallholder farmers in Africa. OKO is now active in Mali and Uganda and has established major partnerships with Orange and Allianz. It is ranked among the InclusiveFintech50 and among the 10 most promising start-ups in Africa by SeedStars.
