SME and Supply Chain Finance Specialist, Financial Institutions Group - IFC
Martin Hommes is an SME and Supply Chain Finance Specialist at IFC's Financial Institutions Group (FIG). He joined IFC in 2009 and is now working primarily in the Latin American & Caribbean region helping banks to improve their banking services to small and medium sized enterprises.
Martin has more than 13 years of experience in Banking consulting and working with private sector development initiatives in Emerging Markets. He has worked in East Asia Pacific, South Asia, Central Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining IFC, Martin held various positions in the private and public financial sector. He worked for Citigroup Global Markets helping Latin American governments issue bonds in the external market and then moved to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) where he joined the Fiscal Affairs Department focused on the Middle East and Anglo Africa. After graduate school, Martin worked as a Senior Financial Officer at Marco Polo Network, a financial technology firm focused on developing electronic equities, fixed income, futures & derivative markets in Emerging Markets.
Martin holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Public Administration / International Development from Harvard Kennedy School.
