Amrei Botha is a Senior SME Banking Specialist, Financial Institutions Group, and also serves as the Technical Lead for the SME Strategy Practice Group at the IFC. She is based in Johannesburg and worked previously with Standard Bank, where she spent the past 13 years focused on the SME market in many African countries including Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda.

Her broad experience in the sector includes strategy development, market research, market segmentation, value proposition design, coverage and operating model design product development, sales effectiveness marketing and competitor analysis. She has also designed and delivered training curricula for SMEs. Having managed large SME portfolios, Botha has deep appreciation for the commercialization of opportunities by translating insights into actionable offerings.

She holds a BComm in Management Accounting Degree from the University of Stellenbosch, a BComm Honours Degree in Business Management from the University of South Africa, and completed specialized studies in Small Enterprise management as well as Microfinance from Harvard Business School.
